About Betsy Blue
Meet Betsy Blue, a wiggly, talkative, piglet-sounding sweetheart who's about two years old. We believe she's a Catahoula Leopard Dog and Pittie mix, but as a rescue, we can't be entirely sure. With her captivating one blue and one brown eye, soft floppy ears, and gorgeous coloring, she's as stunning as she is silly.
At first, Betsy can be a little hesitant when meeting new people, offering a signature drive-by bump to test the waters before deciding you're worthy of her wiggles. Once she warms up, you'll discover her joyful, snorty, and hilarious personality. Her foster mom says she sounds like a piglet when she gets excited and has been known to jump for joy when her favorite people enter the room. Once you're in Betsy's inner circle, prepare for a greeting of wags, wiggles, and the most loving gaze you can imagine. This girl has a deep love for her people!
Betsy is an active girl who loves her walks and is an absolute dream on the leash, trotting right beside you and checking in with sweet eye contact. Back home, she's a toy enthusiast, with her favorite playthings being small plush cat toys, which she'll toss, chase, and keep herself entertained with. She's also a huge foodie and is totally treat-motivated, making her fun and easy to train. Betsy is a smart girl who picks up new commands within a day or so and loves spending quality time learning with you.
Betsy has lived with other dogs in her foster home. While she can be shy and a little unsure at first, she blossoms once she feels safe, becoming a playful companion who enjoys running, chasing, and being chased. She has also done well living with cats, proving capable of settling in peacefully and even wrestling with her feline foster siblings. Dog-savvy cats are definitely the best fit!
Ideal Home
Because Betsy can be slow to open up to new people, she would do best with a family who understands the beauty of patience. She would thrive in a quieter home where she can truly decompress, gain confidence, and learn that the world isn't such a scary place. Older kids who can respect her space and let her come around on her own terms would be a great match for her.
Ongoing Health
Betsy is up-to-date on all her vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines. She has also received multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments. She has been spayed, is on flea prevention, and will receive a 12-month injectable heartworm preventative. She has also tested negative for heartworm.
Training & Support
Betsy is a smart girl and a quick learner, picking up new commands within a day or so. She is also treat-motivated, which makes training enjoyable and effective. Her foster family has worked with her on leash walking, crate training, and potty training.
