Travis is a wonderfully sweet, slightly shy boy who joined us last Spring. He came from a neglectful situation in Kentucky and, given his likely German Shepherd and Collie mix, he's a blend of intelligence and loyalty. Travis was severely malnourished when he arrived but has since blossomed into a healthy 45-pound pup, now celebrating his first birthday. While his past has left him with some mobility challenges and he tires a bit more easily than other large breeds, it has in no way dampened his spirit! He's gentle, inquisitive, and has truly come out of his shell in his foster home. Travis can be a bit slow to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, his affectionate nature shines through. He enjoys being the center of attention and prefers to have his toys to himself.
Ideal Home
Travis would thrive in a quieter, adult-only home where he can receive plenty of one-on-one attention. A home with large breed experience, perhaps even Shepherd experience, would be ideal to help guide him.
Ongoing Health
Travis has some mobility issues due to his past malnutrition and tires a bit easier. His long-term prognosis is still developing, but he's facing it with incredible resilience. He had his initial vet check, is current on vaccines, dewormings, and flea/tick medication, and has been neutered.
Training & Support
Travis is crate trained and housebroken. He's a good listener but, in true Shepherd fashion, he does have a bit of a dramatic flair and might "talk back" occasionally! He's learning to be gentle with other animals and would benefit from continued guidance on appropriate behavior.
