Deepali is a resilient mama dog who found her way to us from a border town, a bit underweight and battling skin infections and heartworms. But with a little TLC in Houston, she's blossomed into a loving companion who cherishes her crate with a comfy donut bed and a handy bucket for her kibble. She adores human attention and a good petting session! Deepali is estimated to be between 4-6 years old, weighing in at a healthy 42 lbs. She's spayed, fully vaccinated, and has successfully completed heartworm treatment. She's also house-trained and crate-trained.
Ideal Home
Deepali could thrive as an only dog in a smaller living space, enjoying leashed walks for exercise. She does resource guard her food and will give a fierce growl if challenged, though she's all bark and no bite. She may panic if other dogs challenge her over food.
Ongoing Health
Deepali is a survivor of distemper, which has resulted in a permanent nervous system condition that causes a slight "dance" in her back feet. This doesn't bother her at all, and she can still run with the best of them, especially when treats or her dog friends are involved! She has full use of her head, neck, and front limbs.
Training & Support
While Deepali is housetrained and crate-trained, she does resource guard her food and may exhibit a strong growl if challenged. Positive reinforcement and clear boundaries around meal times will be key to her continued success.
