About Loki

Loki is a brave, bold, and endlessly entertaining 6.5-month-old Retriever/Pit Bull mix who weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued from the woods with his mother and siblings and has grown up loved and cared for in a foster home. Loki is the fearless ringleader of his litter, always the first to explore new things and announce his presence with confidence. He loves to climb and play keep-away with his toys. He is potty-trained, though a few accidents may occur as he adjusts to a new routine. While fearless, he can be a little hesitant with new experiences, but quickly overcomes it. He loves food and will always make sure he gets his share! After a day of play, Loki becomes a cuddly lap buddy who loves to snuggle. He is great with people and other dogs and recently charmed everyone at a community event. Loki has experience with crates and children, but his compatibility with cats is unknown. He is continuing to work on his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.

Ideal Home

Loki would thrive in a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor him. Homes without another dog will need to provide a solid plan for continued socialization and training. It's preferred that someone is home for most of the day, with no more than a four to six-hour absence routinely.

Ongoing Health

Loki is a healthy young dog.

Training & Support

Loki is potty-trained and doing well in a crate for short periods. He is continuing to practice leash skills and basic obedience. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Continued socialization is crucial for building his confidence.
