Richie is an 81 lb, 5-year-old American Staffie, American Pitbull, and Boxer mix with a heart full of love to give. This handsome guy is looking for a quiet, committed home where he can truly blossom. Richie bonds deeply with his person, becoming a loyal shadow who loves to cuddle and splash in the water. He'd thrive with someone who is home often or works remotely, and who understands that trust and love are earned and deeply rewarding.
Ideal Home
Richie would do best in a calm, low-traffic environment with a consistent routine. He prefers a home where guests are very rare, and he's happy to retreat to his kennel if visitors do come. He is seeking a quiet adult-only household, ideally with 1-2 adults and no children or teens.
Ongoing Health
Richie has a torn CCL and advanced arthritis, for which he takes daily medication for anxiety and pain. He will need surgery at some point. Due to his conditions, he should not be crated for long periods; if crated, it must be in a spacious kennel where he can move. Richie is muzzle trained and will need to wear a muzzle for vet visits. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines.
Training & Support
Richie is kennel trained. He can be a bit bossy with male dogs, so slow, structured introductions are important. He is not a fan of strangers, but with the help of a trainer, he may gain confidence. He enjoys short walks (1/2 mile, 2-3 times a day). Richie needs an experienced adopter who is comfortable with him being a work in progress.
