Teddy is a handsome 3.5-year-old, 10 lb charmer whose DNA reveals a delightful mix of Chihuahua, Yorkie, Bichon, and three other breeds! When he first arrived at our rescue, he was quite matted and needed a fresh start with a shave-down. Thankfully, his beautiful coat has grown back, and he's now a truly pretty pup who will need regular grooming to maintain his good looks. Teddy also had mature cataracts in both eyes, but thanks to successful cataract surgery and a few months of post-op eye medication, he now has excellent vision! He absolutely adores being a lap dog and is always eager to snuggle up with his foster. Teddy gets along well with most dogs, but can be a bit particular with very active ones that get too in his face. He also prefers to eat his meals without interruption and may become possessive if other dogs try to share his food. For these reasons, we feel Teddy would do best as an only dog or with an older, quieter canine companion. He is generally house-trained, enjoys leash walks, and loves car rides. Teddy is sure to make a wonderful companion for the right person!
Ideal Home
Teddy would thrive in a home where he can be the center of attention as a lap dog. He would do best as an only dog or with a calm, older canine companion. Due to his food possessiveness and potential snapping with other dogs around his food, he should not be in a home with multiple active dogs. We do not adopt to anyone with children under the age of 8 years, and only to experienced dog owners.
Ongoing Health
Teddy has had successful cataract surgery on both eyes and is now fully healed with excellent vision.
Training & Support
Teddy is fairly well house-trained but not perfect. He does well on a leash. He can get snappy with other dogs if they try to eat his food, so consistent positive reinforcement around meal times and clear boundaries will be helpful.
