Florence, affectionately nicknamed Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic 3-year-old Carolina Dog mix weighing 46 pounds. She's a total love bug who enjoys wrestling, being chased, and snuggling. Flora adores interacting with other dogs, even showing her affection by licking their faces. She's also a smart cookie who loves learning new tricks and is very submissive and affectionate. While she can be a work in progress, Flora will reward you with years of love and companionship!
Ideal Home
Flora would do best in a home with another well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level, or as the only pet. She needs a moderately active home with someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. An adult household is preferred as she can be nervous of new children and shows stranger danger when new people enter the home, especially if they move quickly.
Ongoing Health
Flora is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She has demonstrated some anxiety in a crate at home, but has no issues when boarded. She is fed separately from other dogs.
Training & Support
Flora has shown some leash reactivity, exhibiting behaviors like raised hair, whimpering, and barking, though her foster parents have worked with her on this. She gets easily spooked and pulls a lot on leash, but has made progress with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli, doing much better in calm environments. She will need consistent training to help with her leash skills and build confidence around new dogs and stimuli. While she needs reminders to take treats gently, she shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food.

Transporation
Flora is currently in a foster home in Houston, Texas. She can be transported out of state once an adopter is approved. Transports run every few weeks, and she will be on the next available transport once approved.
