What we know: Mom (7Y at intake) and single puppy (2W at intake) transferred from Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado. The pair was an owner surrender, not much known about history beyond that.

From the foster: Meet Mama Bear! I'm a 7-year-old sweetheart with a heart as big as my nickname. Everyone calls me Mama Bear because I take my job of protecting my little bear cub very seriously. Now that my puppy is growing up, I'm ready to find a family of my own to love and cherish. My favorite place is right by my people. Whether we're watching TV, relaxing on the patio, or enjoying a quiet afternoon at home, I'm happiest when I'm close to the humans I love. I prefer lounging with soft blankets on the coach, soaking up affection, and being your loyal companion. I'm still working on my potty training, but I'm almost there! Now that I don't have my puppy to look after, I can focus on learning the routine. With a little consistency and patience, I'm sure I'll have it mastered in no time. I'm also doing really well with other dogs! At first, they made me nervous, and I would growl to protect my baby. Now that my puppy is growing up, I'm much more relaxed and I'm learning that other dogs can be friends. With slow introductions, I've been gaining confidence every day.
