BEN

Blue eyed Benny is a 1.5-year-old neutered Shepherd mix who is vaccinated and currently undergoing heartworm treatment. He's a tender-hearted sweetie pie who will turn you to mush with his gentle snuggles! Benny is a little socially awkward but incredibly eager to learn about the world. He was born in Texas to a feral mama who eventually accepted help from rescuers. Benny grew up in outdoor kennels with dog lovers and has never lived on the streets or experienced mistreatment. While most of his littermates were adopted as puppies, Benny and his brother Ramsey were always overlooked due to their quirky personalities. We are now helping Benny adjust to life as a house dog and are searching for his perfect family.

Ideal Home

Benny would thrive in a home with older children (9+), a confident and friendly dog sibling to show him the ropes, and a securely fenced yard. He also needs patient people who understand he's still learning to navigate the world.

Ongoing Health

Benny is currently undergoing heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

Benny is shy at first but quick to warm up to new people and quickly seeks out friends. He is learning to adjust to being a house dog. He learned kennel training quickly and has had success with potty training when given access to a fenced area. Leashes are still new to him, and he doesn't like to potty while on leash, but we're confident he'll learn to enjoy exploring the neighborhood on walks with time and patience. He can be a bit passive when it comes to toys and lets his brother take them. While little kids can be a bit overwhelming for him, he does well with older kids and adults who respect his personal space.
