Darwin was found as a stray with another dog tied up to a fence in Brooklyn. He was initially very shut down and fearful at the shelter, but thankfully a foster stepped up to give him the space he needed to start to bloom. Fosters are truly heroes!

Darwin is a playful, happy puppy who is always eager to please. He can be a little nervous in new situations but never in an aggressive way; he just needs a moment to take things in. He's very affectionate with his people and constantly hoping for an extra ear scratch. Curious about everything, Darwin is highly treat-motivated and easy to train. He loves being close to his humans and is content napping nearby. He is currently in his chewing phase, so plenty of chew toys and treats are a must to keep him busy and out of trouble.
Ideal Home
Darwin does very well with kids 10 years and older. He gets along very well with other dogs and would thrive in a home with one or more canine companions. A backyard is highly recommended to give him space to burn off energy, and due to his strong prey drive, a fenced yard is advised.

Darwin is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Darwin is working on his house training and making steady progress. He can get jumpy and a bit mouthy when excited, but this is normal puppy behavior. He walks nicely on leash, but with his strong prey drive, he will pull when he spots wildlife. He was initially fearful of car rides but is becoming more comfortable with gentle practice and needs continued positive exposure. He thrives with patience, consistency, and gentle guidance as he continues to learn and mature. Because he's young, strong, and enthusiastic, his play style can be a bit rough at times.
