Nora is a sweet, energetic young Newfoundland with a heart full of love! She's a social butterfly, adoring people and other dogs, and her love for food is truly inspiring. Despite her bilateral hip dysplasia, Nora is a spirited girl who doesn't let it slow her down. She's getting more comfortable with grooming, especially having her feet trimmed to prevent slips. She sometimes jumps playfully as she moves, but it's more about navigating her body's needs than any sort of aggression.
Ideal Home
Nora needs a home with very limited stairs, and any stairs must be carpeted or have runners. Non-slip flooring or carpeting throughout the home is a must to protect her hips. Due to her prey drive, she would do best in a home without cats or other small animals that startle easily. While she's generally respectful of other dogs, she needs a home without extremely playful dogs, as rough play could injure her hips. She would also be happy as an only dog.
Ongoing Health
Nora has bilateral hip dysplasia. While it doesn't currently limit her activity, it requires careful management to prevent injury. She is undergoing desensitization for grooming, particularly for her feet. Her condition is stable and she would benefit from physical therapy and supportive care.
Training & Support
Nora can be a bit pushy but is otherwise respectful of other dogs. She needs continued positive reinforcement and patience as she adjusts to new environments and routines.
