About Brooklyn
NEW Video & notes 6/24
Brooklyn ACCT-A-251725 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Brooklyn must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, EXPERIENCED FOSTER, or ADOPTER by MONDAY, JUNE 29TH at 10AM. Should Brooklyn's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Brooklyn is an approximately 7-month-old pit bull terrier mix who came to ACCT Philly on June 1st after being surrendered alongside another dog. The person who brought them in had found them as strays a couple of weeks earlier and hoped to keep them, but ultimately wasn't able to provide long-term care. Since arriving at the shelter, Brooklyn has quickly won over staff and volunteers with her sweet nature and loving personality.
This young girl is the definition of a velcro dog. Brooklyn adores people and is happiest when she can be right by your side, leaning into you for affection, resting her paws in your lap, or soaking up as many pets as possible. Volunteers consistently describe her as gentle, affectionate, and easy to spend time with. Whether she's curling up for cuddles or showing off her full-body wiggles when she sees a familiar face, Brooklyn makes it clear just how much she loves human companionship.
Like many puppies, Brooklyn has a playful side, too. She loves toys, enjoys a good game of fetch, and is always ready for an adventure outside. She's treat-motivated, knows "sit," walks nicely on leash, and has shown herself to be eager to learn. In playgroup, Brooklyn has enjoyed friendly introductions and active play with other dogs, often seeking them out for games before taking breaks appropriately and returning for more fun.
Brooklyn is still a young puppy and occasionally shows typical puppy behaviors, including grabbing at clothing, carrying treasures she finds on walks, and becoming mouthy when she's excited. The good news is that she redirects well to toys and treats and has consistently responded to guidance from handlers. With continued structure, enrichment, and playtime, she is likely to continue maturing into a wonderful companion.
Brooklyn would do best in a home with children 12 years and older due to her puppy mouthing. She may especially enjoy living with a playful canine companion who can help her burn off energy and continue building her social skills. Most of all, she's looking for a family who will appreciate her affectionate heart, playful spirit, and desire to be close to the people she loves. Due to her length of stay, Brooklyn is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner, experienced foster, or adopter.
