Victoria is a approximately 5-year-old, 48 lb female Husky mix who was rescued from the streets of Saltillo, Mexico. She was found hungry, tired, and thirsty and was brought into a home where she was given veterinary care and time to recover. Victoria arrived in a state of severe malnutrition, but she is now healthy and has gained weight. Unfortunately, due to her past malnutrition, she is missing most of her teeth, with only three molars remaining. Despite her hardships, Victoria is a grateful, confident, and noble dog with a beautiful smile. She is very sociable, playful, and loves to be rubbed and cuddled. She is also loyal and devoted to her people. Victoria is crate and leash-trained, but she does need to eat in her crate to prevent her from taking food from other animals and potentially causing fights.
Ideal Home
Victoria would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and long walks. Her ideal family will have an open mind about the needs of rescued street animals and be prepared to offer protection and education. Previous experience with dog behavior and training is highly recommended, as is a high level of patience and tolerance for rescued animals. Victoria is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Victoria is missing most of her teeth, with only three molars remaining. The vet suspects this is due to severe malnutrition experienced before her rescue. She has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, and deworming. She has also tested negative for heartworm and has received her monthly preventive medication (Nexgard Spectra).
Training & Support
Victoria is crate and leash trained. She needs to eat in her crate to prevent her from taking food from other animals and potentially causing fights. Her new family should be prepared to continue her training with patience and positive reinforcement.
