Roxanne

Meet Roxanne, a gorgeous, in every way, typical German Shepherd dog. Roxanne is believed to be about 6 years of age. This girl is the perfect dog-friendly dog; she always has been. Roxanne was surrendered due to no fault of her own. Her previous owners lacked the proper handling training, guidance, discipline, and dedication, which led to fear and typical unwanted common German Shepherd behavior issues. Roxanne was surrendered after she defended herself from the constant attacks by the small breed dog in her previous home. Her reaction matched her size, and before things escalated, she was surrendered to a local rescue friend who asked for our help.

Roxanne is a pack dog who loves and needs to be part of a balanced pack to continue to thrive. She loves dogs as much as she loves humans and needs both in her life. Roxanne enjoys walks, outings, the outdoors, trails, experiencing new surroundings with her people and pack, car rides, and the comfort of her environment and her everyday norm. She is the typical German Shepherd that thrives with the basic principles: boundaries, guidance, discipline, structure, routine, and exercise with adequate guidance. Roxanne has interacted and played with hundreds of dogs since her time with us and has met dozens of people without issues. She learns and follows while maintaining a balanced disposition. Roxanne does have a typical German Shepherd personality and stranger danger fear, but we have never had concerns with her behavior. She feeds off of energy, and confidence is key.

After a day of fun, this girl is the sweetest, funniest, and happiest girl ever. She thrives with affection and nurturing. Roxanne is a family dog with a protective nature. She needs an active, outgoing family or human who will continue to help her maintain her balance while keeping her safe.

Ideal Home

Roxanne requires a home with a securely fenced yard due to her breed and excellent recall. She thrives in a pack environment and needs to be part of an established, balanced pack with both canine and human companions.

Ongoing Health

Roxanne is a happy and healthy dog. All adoptions include spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza. She has tested negative for heartworm and Lyme disease, and has been dewormed. She receives monthly heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. All testing is completed within 6-12 months of adoption, and all age-appropriate needs such as blood work, dental checks, and medications are addressed. She is also microchipped with free unlimited registration updates.

Training & Support

Roxanne is house and crate-trained and walks well on a leash. Her basic obedience training provides her with confidence and the ability to remain disciplined. She loves to practice her commands and is highly motivated by food, praise, toys, and fun. Continued training is essential for her ongoing success.

• Out-of-state adopters are welcome at their own expense.
• We do not ship any adoptable pets.
• Adoption fees are paid at the time of adoption.
• No exchange or request for money is required before adoption.
• No payment plans are available.
• For AHRS former adopters, there is no adoption fee, but a donation of choice is expected, encouraged, welcome, and appreciated.
• A minimum tax-deductible suggested adoption fee donation of $300 is non-negotiable.
