Mickie

Mickie is a sweet, intelligent, and social Chihuahua mix who is approximately 2 years and 7 months old and weighs 18.7 lbs. He is initially a bit reserved but quickly blossoms into an affectionate and loving companion once he feels comfortable. Mickie enjoys running, playing, going for walks, and spending quality time with his humans. He is obedient, playful, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, children, men, and women, making him a versatile addition to many families. Mickie sleeps well in his crate and thrives with a routine. He is eager to bond, learn, and become a loyal member of his forever home, ready to give and receive plenty of love.

Ideal Home

Mickie would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog and an understanding of the needs and behaviors of rescued animals, requiring protection and education. Prior experience in dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer to help this intelligent dog reach his full potential. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are essential.

Ongoing Health

Mickie has a comprehensive health protocol that includes a Spay/Neuter Certificate, two DHPPI vaccines, a Rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, he has been dewormed, and is microchipped. He has also received a 4DX Test and Certificate, a negative Heartworm test certificate, and is on monthly preventive protection (Nexgard Spectra) for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He also has a Health Certificate and a Vaccines booklet.

Training & Support

It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past experiences, which can include fears and anxieties. Patience, understanding, and establishing a safe, loving environment with a consistent routine and clear boundaries are crucial for building trust and strengthening the bond with Mickie. Potential adopters should be aware that Mickie is not house trained, as providing this training is a significant undertaking for the rescue organization given their current foster capacity.

• Upon approval, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover veterinary care, vaccinations, microchipping, and more.

Transportation

Mickie is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. He is available for transport to the East Coast as part of a scheduled cross-country trip. Transportation is door-to-door and costs a one-time fee of $400 USD, which covers the journey from Mexico to your home. This process involves a contracted transport company, comprehensive legal and health documentation, and real-time updates throughout the journey.
