Meet Chanel, a resilient 3 to 4-year-old terrier mix who has blossomed into an energetic, happy dog despite a heartbreaking start. She was abandoned in a crowded New Mexico shelter and was on the euthanasia list before being rescued and brought to Texas. Chanel is incredibly special – she even donates blood to save other lives! While her transformation is remarkable, she's still working on building trust and needs a patient family to help her on her journey.
Ideal Home
Chanel is searching for a patient family and a canine companion in a home where she can rebuild her faith in humanity and learn to trust again. She enjoys toys and balls, especially soft squeakers, but can get easily startled by loud noises and is still learning how to play with them. She will need a gentle, understanding environment where she can take things at her own pace and finally discover what it feels like to be truly safe.
Ongoing Health
Chanel is healthy and has undergone all necessary vetting, including DAPP, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, spay/neuter, flea prevention, heartworm testing and prevention, and micro-chipping.
Training & Support
Chanel can be quite flinchy when hands reach toward her, a remnant of her past trauma. She needs continued gentle guidance and patience to help her overcome this. The team has spent countless hours with her, providing socialization through playgroups and one-on-one bonding, and working on skills such as leash training and basic commands. She is on her way to being the best dog she can be with continued training efforts and understanding.

Transporation
Chanel is located in Texas. Transportation is available to VA, PA, CT, VT, NY, UT, ID, OR, TX, WA, TN, KY, IN, IL, WI, MN & OH, LA. AZ transport is coming soon. All transport is done via air-conditioned buses or vans with onboard attendants providing 24-hour care. Adopters can follow their pet's journey on a private Facebook event page. Your Adoption Coordinator will help find the closest transport pickup location. For those picking up in Angleton, TX, there is a $75 fee which includes all vetting. The adoption and transportation fee ranges from $100-500. Private custom transport routes and destinations are available upon request with financial responsibility on the adopted family. Texas adopters have a $250 flat rate fee for transporting within the state.
