Scout

Scout is a sweet, playful, and affectionate male Rat Terrier who is approximately 3–4 years old and weighs about 14 lbs. He's full of personality and loves to run, play, and snuggle with his people. Scout is very sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women, making him a wonderful companion for many families. He was rescued after being attacked by larger dogs, but thankfully, he only sustained minor scratches and has shown incredible resilience and a loving spirit ever since.

Ideal Home

Scout would thrive in an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and has a fenced backyard. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog and an open mind about the behaviors of street animals, understanding their need for protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer to help this intelligent dog reach his full potential. A high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies is also essential.

Ongoing Health

Scout has received a spay/neuter certificate, 2 DHPPI vaccines, a rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, has been dewormed, and microchipped. He also received a 4DX test and certificate, a negative heartworm test certificate, and is on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He comes with a health certificate and a vaccine booklet.

Training & Support

Scout is not house-trained. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may have experienced trauma and require an adjustment period. Patience and understanding are crucial to help build trust and strengthen the bond. Providing a safe and loving environment, establishing a routine, and setting clear boundaries will help him feel secure.

• Your future furry friend will be safe in your home, and we cannot process your application without this visual confirmation.
• If it's a match, we'll schedule a call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• We will speak with 1–2 of your references.
• If approved, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, food, and more.

Transportation

Scout is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our cross-country trip. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery from Mexico to your home. Our transport process includes scheduled trips (3-4 times per year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip), a partnered transport company, comprehensive legal and health documentation, and real-time updates via a private Facebook Messenger group. The transport team will deliver your pet directly to your home address and conduct a final home review.
