About Teresa

Teresa is a loving, gentle, and intelligent Labrador mix who is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 42 lbs. She has been patiently waiting for a family to call her own and is sociable and enjoys the company of people. While she may be a bit cautious and shy at first due to past fear of rejection, once she feels safe, her true affectionate, playful, and loving personality shines through. She adores being petted and seeks out cuddles. Teresa gets along well with dogs, children, men, and women, and has shown no reaction to cats in cages. She is a calm, balanced, and respectful dog who prefers peace and harmony and has never been involved in fights. She walks on a leash with guidance and can be transported in a crate, settling down after initial nervousness. Teresa was found tied to a tree with a wire that had cut into her neck when she was about six months old. Despite her severe injuries and tick infestation, she remained gentle. After being rescued and treated, her wounds healed, leaving a scar that never affected her sweet spirit. She has proven to be a wonderful, obedient, affectionate, and very smart dog, and deserves a chance to thrive outside of a shelter environment.

Ideal Home

Teresa would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard, with an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, understanding the needs of street animals for protection and education. Experience in dog behavior and training is preferred, or a commitment to hiring a trainer. High tolerance and patience are essential, as she is not house-trained.

Ongoing Health

Teresa is spayed/neutered, has received 2 DHPPI vaccines, a rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, and has been dewormed. She is microchipped and has tested negative for heartworm and 4DX. She is on monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.

Training & Support

Teresa is not fully house-trained and requires ongoing patience and understanding as she adjusts to a new environment. She walks on a leash with guidance and can be crate trained. Her adopters should be willing to work on her training, understanding that rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties that require time to overcome.
