About Hammond

I'm Hammond, a 6-year-old, 50-pound, neutered Yellow Labrador Retriever/Chow Chow mix with a heart full of love to give! I've come a long way from Mexico and am now ready to find my forever home. I'm a healthy boy who enjoys playing fetch, tug-of-war, and keeping my mind busy with puzzle toys and Kongs. While I love adventures and hikes, I'm also happy to relax and cuddle on the couch. I'm a sweet and cuddly guy who leans in for affection whenever I can get it. I'm working on my potty training and making great progress daily, and I'm also crate-trained, though I might need a moment to settle in at first. Walks are a joy with me as I'm a great leash walker and don't pull! I do have some mild separation anxiety, but I usually settle down within a few minutes. I can get a little anxious with people walking by outside, but I truly love everyone I meet. A funny quirk about me is that I'm not a big fan of watching animals on TV for long periods of time!

Ideal Home

I would thrive in a home where someone enjoys spending time together, whether it's on adventures, hikes, or just relaxing at home. I'd do well with a family or a single person, especially with active but laid-back owners. I would likely do best in a household without small pets.

Ongoing Health

I am currently taking medication to help with some anxiety, but I'm slowly being weaned off of it as I continue to do well.

Training & Support

I'm still working on my potty training and may have an occasional accident if not let out right away, but I'm improving daily. Managing my water intake can also help. I can be a little hesitant in my crate at first but am calm and comfortable once settled.
