Sharon, a delightful 10-month-old puppy, is ready to bring joy and a unique charm to your home! Despite a challenging start, Sharon (also known as Abby) approaches life with boundless enthusiasm and a playful spirit. She adores people and other dogs, demonstrating a wonderful temperament and a knack for mischief that's typical of any happy puppy. Her Basset Hound heritage shines through with her famous "side eye" and a touch of adorable stubbornness. Sharon was born with rear legs that don't function properly, but this has never stopped her from keeping up with the pack; she scoots around the house with impressive speed! A custom-made wheelchair, which she loves, allows her to enjoy walks alongside her canine companions.
Ideal Home
Sharon would thrive in a home that embraces her unique needs and celebrates her playful personality. Her ability to scoot quickly means she can get into trouble as fast as any other dog, so a watchful eye is always appreciated!
Ongoing Health
Sharon was born with severe hip dysplasia and improperly set stifles (knees). Due to her inability to walk, her rear limbs did not develop fully. She is not in pain and does not miss walking. Because she cannot be reliably house-trained to go outside, she wears diapers indoors and uses a crate with an incontinence pad at night. This makes her prone to UTIs, so she needs to be changed every 2-3 hours.
Training & Support
Sharon is not incontinent, but she does require diligent diaper changes to prevent UTIs. She is a quick learner and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement.
