Rocky is a handsome 6-year-old stray with a heart of gold and a playful spirit! He weighs 44 pounds and is short and stocky, with a personality that's as charming as his looks. Rocky was found as a stray and has been fully vetted, but he does have a torn ACL. You'd never know it, though, as he runs and plays like any other dog! The vet recommended holding off on surgery until it bothers him, and Wags will cover the surgery once an adopter is approved, as he wouldn't receive the necessary post-op care in a shelter environment. Rocky is crate trained, loves to carry his leash in his mouth, and enjoys all his toys. He's a character who loves to nibble on your ear or arm and will definitely keep you laughing with his antics. He also enjoys car rides!
Ideal Home
Rocky would be perfect for a single person or an older couple who are retired or work from home, as he thrives on attention and companionship. He needs a home with no other pets, as he exhibits toy and food aggression towards other dogs. While he's not reactive to cats outdoors, Wags prefers to err on the side of caution and recommends a home without cats. Due to his strength and playful exuberance, he is not a candidate for a home with small children. He needs a fully fenced-in yard and must live in a house that is owned.
Ongoing Health
Rocky has a torn ACL. Surgery has been recommended but will be deferred until an approved adopter is found. Wags will cover the cost of the surgery.
Training & Support
Rocky is house-trained and crate-trained. He has a strong instinct to grab toys, especially in pet stores, so he needs an owner who can manage this playful tendency. He is afraid of vacuums, leaf blowers, and any sort of stick.
