Opal

Opal is a senior Chihuahua who tips the scales at 8.5 lbs and has an "old soul." She's about 9 years old and is described as being somewhat set in her ways. Opal is spayed, up to date on all her shots, and microchipped. She is also house-trained and considers her crate to be her safe place. Opal knows a few basic commands and prefers women, but she will open up to men who "speak" Chihuahua. She does like to play, once she feels safe, and occasionally gets the "spinners" when she is excited. Opal is a bit sensitive around her head and neck, so putting a collar or harness on her can be quite stressful. She is not on any medications and does not have any conditions requiring special foods.

Ideal Home

Opal would do best in a quiet home where she is the only pet. She may be compatible with another dog or cat, as long as Opal is not obligated to be friends. She should not be in a home with small children. A privacy-preferred fenced yard is a must due to her sensitivity around her head and neck when it comes to collars or harnesses.

Ongoing Health

Opal is generally healthy and does not require any special diet or medications.

Training & Support

Opal is house-trained and knows basic commands. She may need a little time to warm up to new people, especially men. Continued positive reinforcement and understanding of her sensitivities will help her thrive.
