Trix is an 8-month-old, approximately 35-pound, spayed female Pitbull mix with the sweetest, smartest soul. She was surrendered to a shelter with her brother and, while he has found his home, Trix needed extra time in foster care to build her confidence. She was significantly undersocialized and her baseline is fear of humans, but she has never shown reactivity like growling, barking, lunging, nipping, or biting. Instead, when unsure, she seeks a safe place to hide. Trix is quiet, observant, and incredibly smart, quickly picking up on things like using a doggy door. With patience and intentional time spent building trust, she begins to soften, eventually playing with toys, enjoying time with other dogs, and cuddling with her people.
Ideal Home
Trix will need a home where someone is around more often than not, as she is still a puppy and building trust takes time and consistency. She is not a confident dog and requires patience, compassion, and commitment. She would likely thrive with a confident canine companion to learn from, though adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence-building. While she has been around kids and is shy at first, a home with a calm environment would be best.
Ongoing Health
Trix is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. No specific health conditions are noted in her description.
Training & Support
Trix is housebroken and loves her crate. She is learning to walk on a leash. As she is still building confidence, ongoing patience and positive reinforcement will be key to helping her thrive.
