My name is Thumper, and I'm a 4-year-old, 25.6-pound bundle of love (still working on shedding a couple of pounds!). I was released from a breeder about a year ago and found myself in a foster home that was just a little too busy for me. Now, I'm in a quieter, more relaxed foster environment in Longmont, CO, and I'm blossoming!
When I first arrived, I was understandably skittish and nervous, and I'd drool when I felt that way. Loud noises and sudden movements could make me freeze. But with patience and a calm environment, I'm becoming more relaxed every day! I love being around my people once I know I'm safe, and I get so excited when I see them enter the room. I can get a little anxious when you leave, but I'm learning that you always come back. I'd do best with parents who are home most of the time, rather than those who work outside the home full-time.
I get along well with my foster siblings, both male and female. While I'm not a big player yet, I do enjoy a good chew toy and love to roll on top of them – I think my playful side is just waiting to emerge! I'm housetrained and leash-trained, and I ride well in the car (though I do tend to drool the whole time!).
Ideal Home
I'd thrive in a patient home with parents who are around most of the time. I get along well with other dogs, but I would prefer a smaller female companion or to be the only dog. Absolutely NO CATS for me! I'm still building my confidence, so I'd do best in a home without young children. A fenced-in area is preferred if you own your home, but if you live in an apartment or community where fences aren't permitted, we can make it work as long as leash laws are enforced. Invisible fencing is not an option.
Ongoing Health
I arrived with an ear infection, which has been fully treated. All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Any other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption.
