About Daisy Mae

Daisy Mae is a beautiful, 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix who has overcome a challenging start to life. Rescued as part of a police confiscation case for abuse and neglect, she weighed only 18 lbs at six months old. It took months of patient care before she learned that a gentle hand meant love, not harm. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl, ready to find a family who will provide the safety and devotion she deserves. She's outgoing, smart, and loves car rides, chew toys, and being near her people. When meeting strangers, she might be a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly and enjoys attention once she feels secure. Daisy Mae is the definition of resilience, blossoming into a loving, loyal companion who greets each day with joy and trust. She's looking for a home that understands her past, offers gentle structure, and celebrates the happy, goofy, affectionate girl she has become. If you're ready to open your heart to a survivor who will give you her whole heart in return, Daisy Mae is your girl.

Ideal Home

Daisy Mae absolutely adores kids of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. She doesn't need another dog in the home to be happy and would do wonderfully as an only pet. If placed with another dog, slow introductions are essential, and she'd do best with a calm, confident companion.

Ongoing Health

Daisy Mae is in great shape and continues to thrive. She does have slightly runny eyes, which are suspected to be due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy times of the year. This doesn't require treatment beyond occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes.

Training & Support

Daisy Mae is great on leash, fully house-trained, and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. Because of her past experience with food insecurity, Daisy Mae eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she's eating, so she's happiest when given space for mealtime and a calm environment where she can unwind. She benefits from slow introductions to other dogs, as she can be a bit bossy during play and does best with balanced or confident dogs who can handle her enthusiasm.
