For a dog who spent more than 2 months surviving on her own in the woods, Koa has turned out to be remarkably adaptable. She's smart, easygoing, wonderful with other animals, and happiest when she's simply spending time with her people. This young Chow girl is currently about 38 pounds and still gaining weight as she recovers. While she may be a little reserved when meeting new people, she quickly becomes a devoted companion once she decides you're one of her people. Before long, she'll be following you from room to room, curling up beside you on the couch, and keeping you company throughout the day. Koa enjoys walks, has wonderful leash manners, and is just as happy spending the evening relaxing on the couch. She's not a high-energy dog, but she does appreciate a good daily walk and quality time with her family. Koa is brave enough to survive alone in the woods for months, but wet grass? Absolutely not. If the yard is damp from rain, sprinklers, or morning dew, she'd much rather negotiate for a walk than step onto soggy grass. Koa has already proven she's resilient. Now she's looking for something much simpler: a family, a couch, and a person to follow around for the rest of her life. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and an easygoing nature, Koa may be your perfect match.
Ideal Home
Koa is happiest in a home where she gets plenty of companionship, exercise, and a predictable routine. She thrives with a family that can provide a lot of attention and understanding.
Ongoing Health
Koa is still recovering and gaining weight. She has some separation anxiety, which is understandable given everything she's been through.
Training & Support
Koa's main area for support is her separation anxiety. Once settled, she's content to curl up and nap while her people go about their day, but she needs reassurance and companionship to feel secure.
