Pig, also known as Pigapotamus or Pigatha, is a wonderful family dog with a heart full of love for children and babies. She’s a champion snuggler who enjoys lounging on the couch and can even be heard snoring with delight. While she appreciates a good nap, Pig also has a playful side and loves a good game of tug-of-war. Fetch is not her thing, but she’ll certainly get a kick out of your attempts to make her play! Pig is impeccably house-trained and always does her business outside, demonstrating true lady-like behavior. Her love for food is legendary, and she’s always eager for a meal (or several!). She respects fences and has no inclination to dig or escape. Pig enjoys her dog bed and sunny spots in the yard but is happiest indoors, being a true couch potato. When it comes to other dogs, Pig likes to be the boss. A submissive canine companion would be a good fit for her, but she is not suited for homes with small dogs or cats. She coexists well with our Pyrenees and another dog, but it's recommended to supervise introductions to new doggy friends closely. Pig is absolutely NOT OK with livestock, cats, or small dogs. She's also quite protective of her food and has a habit of "borrowing" from others, so she's fed in her crate.
Ideal Home
Pig would thrive in a home where she can be the queen of the couch, surrounded by a loving family. She needs a home without cats, small dogs, or livestock, and ideally with a canine companion who is submissive.
Ongoing Health
Pig experiences recurring ear infections in her right ear, and while regular cleaning helps, it's not always a complete solution. She was previously heartworm positive but has been treated and shows no lingering side effects. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations.
Training & Support
Pig is crate-trained and knows the "sit" command. While she doesn't love baths, she will patiently sit through them. Her food guarding behavior means she needs to be fed separately in her crate to avoid conflicts.
