Tommy is a delightful 10-month-old Terrier mix, currently weighing around 27 lbs and expected to reach about 37 lbs. Born on April 10, 2024, Tommy was rescued and is being fostered in Matamoros, Mexico. He's a sweet boy who is learning to trust and can be a little shy with new people, but he blossoms into an affectionate, playful, and loving companion once he feels comfortable. He absolutely adores his doggy friends and has a high energy level, enjoying lots of running and playtime. Tommy's journey began when his pregnant mother was rescued, and he was born safely at the shelter.
Ideal Home
Tommy would thrive in a home that understands and has experience with rescue animals. He needs a family with high tolerance and patience, especially since he is not yet house-trained. Adopters should have a good understanding of dog behavior and training, and be open to providing the love and education a rescued street animal needs.
Ongoing Health
Tommy has completed a comprehensive health protocol. He is neutered and has received DHPPI (2 shots), Rabies, and Bordetella vaccines, and has been dewormed. He is microchipped and tested negative for heartworm. He also received a 4DX test and certificate. He is currently on monthly Nexgard Spectra for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.
Training & Support
Tommy is not house-trained and will require consistent patience and training in his new home. He is a rescue dog and may need time to decompress and adjust. His ideal family will have experience with dog behavior and training, and be prepared to guide him with understanding and a positive reinforcement approach.

Transportation
Tommy is currently being fostered in Matamoros, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country transport trip for approved adopters. A transport fee of $400.00, paid by the adopter prior to departure, covers the service provided by a transport company. Transport delivers to the adopter's home address.
