Essex

Essex is a charming little fellow, as close to a Cockapoo as you can get, confirmed by his DNA! He's about 5 years old and weighs around 10 pounds. Essex is a master of self-entertainment, happily playing with his toys for hours. He also loves to zoom around the yard and engage in playful chases with other dogs, though he can sometimes be a bit bossy with them. He walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, though he does have a tendency to mark other dogs' beds, indicating his confident, alpha personality. When he first arrived, his coat was severely matted, and he had to be shaved down to the skin. Thankfully, his beautiful coat is now growing back in nicely!

Ideal Home

Essex would be best suited for a home without young children, specifically anyone under the age of 8. He would also do well as an only dog or with a very laid-back canine companion. His confident nature means he needs an experienced owner who can guide him.

Ongoing Health

Essex's coat is growing back wonderfully after being shaved due to matting upon rescue. He is up-to-date on all his vaccinations and on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and parasites.

Training & Support

Essex is described as a very precocious and alpha little dog, and he occasionally marks other dogs' beds. An experienced owner will be best equipped to manage his personality and continue his house-training.
