Penny is a gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, weighing approximately 50 lbs and is the sweetest girl! She is about 1 year and 3 months old and was found in January 2026 fending for herself in a cemetery with over a dozen other dogs. Despite her tough start, Penny is incredibly loving and trusting of people. She absolutely adores other dogs of all sizes and even enjoys playing gently with pigs! Penny can be a little shy initially, but she warms up quickly to become a loyal best friend. She's an active girl who loves to romp and play, especially with other dogs and tug toys. Penny is a bit of an escape artist, enjoying explorations, but she's a good girl who usually returns to wait at the door. She is mostly house-trained and loves car rides, though her leash manners still need a little refinement.
Ideal Home
Penny would thrive in an active home that enjoys adventures. She's looking for a best friend to be her shadow. A home with another active dog to play with and help tire each other out is strongly recommended.
Ongoing Health
Penny is heartworm positive and has received a 30-day course of antibiotics. She needs to remain on heartworm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested afterward. She is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and de-wormer. She will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian prior to transport.
Training & Support
Penny is mostly house-trained and will need consistency to master it 100%. Her leash walking needs a bit more work to become perfect. She has great recall once familiar with her surroundings.

Penny is currently located in a sanctuary in south Texas. She can be transported to the Northeast United States.
