Declan

Declan is a truly resilient soul with a heart of gold, despite his rough beginnings. Pulled from a kill shelter on his last day by a WARF volunteer, he arrived at our sanctuary with a severely damaged left eye, which sadly had to be removed due to trauma. It's believed he may have been a poorly trained guard dog, leading to initial aggression towards people and animals.

Over the past three years, Declan has made incredible progress. What started as fear and aggression has blossomed into confidence. He can now be introduced to new people in a slow, controlled manner by his trusted handlers. He's ready to find his special person and would be an ideal companion for a single woman, as his protective instincts truly shine once he bonds. Declan enjoys an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, patrolling his domain to ensure everything is secure. He's a big, strong boy who needs a securely contained environment to prevent any unexpected encounters. While he can walk nicely with other dogs, he prefers to be the sole furry companion in his home.

Ideal Home

Declan would thrive in a home where he can be the center of attention. He needs a securely contained indoor-outdoor environment and would do best as the only pet.

Ongoing Health

Declan's left eye was removed due to trauma.

Training & Support

Declan has learned to walk nicely alongside other dogs. He requires a calm but confident person willing to commit to multiple get-acquainted visits and a home check to ensure he never experiences abandonment again.
