MEET SMOKEY — SAVED WITH ONLY MINUTES TO SPARE
Smokey's journey began on the tough streets of Harris County, Texas, where survival was a daily challenge. When Animal Control rescued him, he may have thought his luck had finally turned. Little did he know, his rescue led him to a crowded shelter where his time was rapidly running out. We learned about Smokey with mere minutes to spare! This sweet, gentle boy was on the brink of losing his only chance at a life he truly deserved. Thankfully, we intervened, saving an incredible soul from a tragic fate.
It was evident that Smokey had spent most of his life outdoors, lacking proper shelter and protection, which sadly led to a heartworm diagnosis. But heartworms are treatable, and his treatment began immediately once he was safe with us. Despite his difficult past, Smokey's spirit remains gentle and full of love. At approximately four years old, he has a lifetime of love and affection to share. His foster family raves about his polite, calm, and well-behaved nature indoors, with no accidents or complaints – only gratitude and sweet tail wags. To top it all off, Smokey gets along wonderfully with other dogs! From the streets to the shelter and now to a cozy foster home, Smokey's story is a testament to a spirit that shines brightly despite a dark past. Now, he’s just waiting for a forever family to show him that the best chapters of his life are yet to come.
