Phoenix is a young, energetic teenager looking for his forever home still. He is currently being fostered in Virginia but can be transported to an approved adopter. Phoenix is crate trained, housebroken but currently working on his leash skills.
Phoenix is a playful, loyal, and affectionate boy weighing about 74 pounds, with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He is smart, expressive, and happiest when he’s with his people and a trusted dog companion. Phoenix is high energy and loves to run, play, and explore. He especially enjoys playing with dogs his own size and currently does great with his dog buddy Apollo. With unfamiliar dogs, Phoenix is curious but reserved and needs time to adjust. He does not bark or act aggressively, but he prefers personal space and is not a fan of dog parks or daycare. He would do best in a home with another dog of similar size and energy. On leash, Phoenix walks well and is easy to control, though he may pull at times. He is friendly with people and enjoys attention. He has regular interaction with a young child and has done very well, showing a gentle and playful side around kids. Phoenix is fully house trained and crate trained. He sleeps in his crate at night and often chooses to nap in the other dog’s crate during the day. He has no food aggression and does well with toys and treats. His favorite toy is a squirrel. Phoenix does not like being alone for long periods and does best when another dog is home with him. Continued socialization, regular exercise, and mental stimulation will be important to keep him happy and confident.
