Ernie is a handsome, 8-year-old, neutered male Pittie/Cattle Dog mix weighing around 63lbs. He's a true gem of a dog who was found as a stray but clearly came from a loving home. Despite being microchipped, his previous owner did not want him back. Ernie is described as a goofy older gentleman who is very chill but also gets excited for walks and playdates. He has done great with every human and animal he has met, and his foster mom believes he would thrive in almost any home. He has a lot of love left to give and is eager to be part of his very own pack!
Ideal Home
Ernie would enjoy a home where he can be included in family activities. He seems to be fine with dogs of all sizes and would likely be okay with cats that don't mind him wanting to say hello. He's also expected to do well with children, provided they are aware he is a larger dog.
Ongoing Health
Ernie tested negative for heartworm (HW-) and is in good general health.
Training & Support
Ernie is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He does not enjoy crates and will attempt to escape, but he is not destructive when left unsupervised. If left in a crate while his humans are home, he may whine or howl for a short period, but can be calmed with treats or verbal commands.
