Meet Leo! This handsome 15-month-old, 40 lb Catahoula Hound mix (with maybe some Aussie or Shepherd in him!) has a truly stunning look with his mesmerizing blue eyes and soft, luxurious coat. Leo is a dog who has overcome a lot and is ready to find his forever family who will cherish his gentle spirit.
Leo arrived with us in a shell-shocked state, clearly traumatized from his past. He was withdrawn and fearful, but his amazing foster family worked patiently and tirelessly to help him feel safe and loved. Through small victories and consistent kindness, Leo has blossomed into an outstanding dog! He's learned to trust, loves to play, and is incredibly affectionate, often sneaking up onto the bed to snuggle with his people. He enjoys being around his family and will follow you wherever you go. Leo is house-trained, quiet, and excellent on leash. He's also great with other dogs of all temperaments and loves to play with them. He travels well in the car and doesn't have any known allergies or health issues.
Ideal Home
Leo would thrive in a home with at least one other dog, or even better, multiple canine companions, to keep him company and engaged. A fenced yard is a must for Leo to explore safely. Because of his past experiences, Leo would do best in a home where there is not a lot of yelling or loud noises. He also needs a patient family who understands he will need time to adjust to his new surroundings and people.
Ongoing Health
Leo is in excellent health, is up-to-date on all vaccinations (including rabies), and is microchipped. He has no known allergies and has an excellent appetite, tolerating various proteins well.
Training & Support
Leo is house-trained and has never had an accident indoors. He walks well on a leash and doesn't pull. While he is generally a quiet dog, he enjoys playful "goofing around" with other dogs. Leo does not like crates, as it is believed he may have been punished with one in the past. It's important to give Leo at least 30 days to fully acclimate to his new home and family without a lot of new visitors or changes in routine.
