POPPY

Poppy is a beautiful, four-year-old female Golden Retriever who is as sweet as she is smart! She's treat-motivated and loves to learn, already knowing a variety of commands like sit, stay, leave it, go get it, break, spin, wait, lay down, roll over, and go get your toy. Poppy has earned her Canine Good Citizen award and is looking for a home where she can continue to shine. She enjoys long walks, car rides, playing fetch, and exploring. While she's not a big snuggler, she loves to be near her people and would likely excel in activities like dog sports or even as a therapy or service dog with the right enrichment.

Ideal Home

Poppy would thrive in a home with a family member who is home much of the day, as she can be attached to her primary caregiver. She would do best with another well-mannered, large, young, and playful dog for companionship. A fully fenced yard is a must, and she needs someone who can provide her with daily walks. Due to her past experiences, she is not happy in a crate. Poppy also prefers women over men and it would be best if the women in the home are her primary caregiver. She needs a home in NE Florida and no children under the age of 8.

Ongoing Health

Poppy is current on all vaccines, heartworm negative, spayed, and microchipped. She is frightened of thunderstorms and loud noises, but medication helps her manage these during Florida summers and around fireworks.

Training & Support

Poppy is well-mannered in the home and is house-trained. She enjoys training and learning new tricks, and would benefit from continued positive reinforcement and enrichment activities.
