Dixie is an 8-month-old husky mix, weighing approximately 25 lbs, with the most captivating blue eyes! She and her mom were found running near a busy highway and were rescued by a kind individual who patiently coaxed them to safety. Dixie's mom, a spaniel mix, has already found her forever home, and while we don't know who Dixie's father is, we believe she won't grow much larger, as her mom was only about 30 lbs full-grown. Dixie is kennel trained and is quickly learning commands. She is a very smart and eager learner, and with a little one-on-one attention, she'll master them in no time! Dixie absolutely adores other dogs and gets along wonderfully with all sizes. She's currently in a temporary foster sanctuary near the Texas/Mexico border, awaiting her perfect match.
Ideal Home
Dixie is still learning to trust humans and would thrive in a home that is patient, understanding, and gentle. Having another dog in the home would be a great asset in helping Dixie come out of her shell. If a canine companion isn't an option, her adoptive family should be prepared to provide plenty of socialization through playdates or doggy daycare.
Ongoing Health
Dixie has been spayed, is heartworm negative, and is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, as well as flea/tick and heartworm prevention. She has also received dewormer and will be given a clean bill of health by a licensed veterinarian before transport.
Training & Support
Dixie is learning to trust and needs a patient and gentle approach. She is smart and eager to learn new commands. She is also discovering the joy of playing with toys!
