Meet Blue!
This vibrant five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix has a heart as big as his playful spirit. His sleek black coat is charmingly accented with white, and he's the ultimate adventure buddy with a serious soft side. Blue is just as thrilled to race alongside your bike or splash through the waves at the beach as he is to curl up next to you for forehead kisses and belly rubs. He's an expert at fetch and tug-of-war, and after a good play session, you'll find him lounging quietly, snoozing in his favorite spot or keeping your feet warm at the end of the bed.
This medium-sized, 55-pound pup is incredibly smart and food-motivated, already knowing commands like sit, stay, come, paw, and even a little spin! He is house-trained, crate-trained, and thrives on routine. Blue enjoys his meals and his walks, and is most relaxed in a calm, predictable environment that is low-traffic.
Ideal Home
Blue would thrive as the only pet in a quiet home with experienced, patient caregivers who understand behavior management. He would do best in a home without young children, as he can be overwhelmed by high energy and loud environments. A fenced yard or access to regular outdoor activity is key for this boy who needs space to run and explore!
Ongoing Health
Blue is currently on a fish-based diet to support his allergy needs and receives a yearly allergy shot that helps him stay healthy and comfortable.
Training & Support
Due to some significant life changes and environmental stressors, Blue has developed anxiety that can lead to territorial behavior, particularly around other dogs when he's near his trusted human. While he has peacefully shared space with dogs during structured walks, he has also shown reactive behavior and has bitten two dogs who approached too closely while he was with his guardian. These incidents appear to be rooted in protectiveness and anxiety rather than general aggression. He is not compatible with cats and can be selective with other dogs. To help set Blue up for long-term success, a two-week boarding training program with a professional trainer will be covered prior to placement. Blue will complete this structured boot camp and transition directly into his new home with a personalized training plan and continued access to trainer support, giving his future family a strong foundation and guidance.
