Alicia is a calm, loving, curious, and quiet girl who is about 40 pounds and has a very pretty face with nice black and brown markings. She is very well-adjusted, friendly with everyone she meets, and gentle, especially when taking treats. Alicia is very affectionate and will often follow you around the house, sometimes becoming a lap dog. She loves to be petted and touched and purrs when you pet her, and she wiggles her hind legs when she gets belly rubs! She is also a couch potato who doesn't play much but enjoys naps and cuddles. Alicia seems to be telling you, "I love you and I feel safe and happy. Thank you for rescuing me." She is non-reactive, has no separation anxiety, and can be left alone for a few hours.
Ideal Home
Alicia would thrive in a quiet home, perhaps with another doggie roommate. She'd love an owner who enjoys a lot of physical contact, praises her often, and will allow her to be an indoor pet, sleep close by, and be on the couch. A secure yard for occasional wandering would be wonderful, as would regular walks and an occasional car ride.
Ongoing Health
Alicia has severe skin allergies that require management with medication and frequent baths. She also needs a special hydrolyzed animal (HA) diet. Despite management, she still experiences itching, scratching, and licking, which can lead to hot spots that require attention.
Training & Support
Alicia is house-trained and signals when she needs to go out, never having had an accident. She is a breeze to walk on leash, anticipates your movements, and is easy to redirect if she pulls. She is also very calm and well-behaved in the car. Alicia knows her name and responds to commands like "come," "sit," "lie down," "treats," and "walk," and often responds to "go-to-sleep."
