About Troy (20260704-02)

Troy is an estimated 4-year-old, 31-40 lb bundle of love who was found on the side of a highway in Mexico, desperately trying to survive. Despite a difficult start to life, including a fight against ehrlichiosis, Troy has emerged healthy, full of life, and ready to share his boundless affection. He's still a puppy at heart, loving cuddles, squeaky toys, and the company of his people and other dogs. Troy is a gentle soul who trusts readily, greets everyone with kindness, and is eager to find a forever home where he'll always feel safe and loved.

Ideal Home

Troy would thrive in a home that can offer him security and companionship. He's good with adults, kids, dogs, and cats, adapting nicely to sharing his space. While he can possibly live in an apartment, a home with a yard is preferred. He also enjoys the company of other dogs, so a canine sibling would be a bonus, though not a necessity.

Ongoing Health

Troy has made a full recovery from ehrlichiosis, a serious tick-borne illness he battled and overcame with intensive veterinary care. While he is no longer eligible to be a blood donor for other dogs due to his past illness, he is now in excellent health and ready for his next adventure.

Training & Support

Troy is a fast learner and is already housetrained, preferring to go outside or on pee pads. He's also doing very well with leash training and enjoys car rides. Crate training is currently in progress. While fireworks can make him a little nervous, he is quickly reassured with treats, positive reinforcement, and cuddles. He is not a barker or destructive, and shows no food aggression, though feeding dogs separately is always recommended.
