About Copper
Meet Copper!
Copper is a 4-year-old, 14-pound Tibetan Spaniel mix with a big personality and an even bigger smile. He's a fun-loving, social, and outgoing boy who was surrendered by his owner and is now searching for a family to appreciate his happy spirit and affectionate nature. Copper enjoys being part of the action and spending time with his people. He has lived with other dogs and has done well with cats in his foster home, making him a great candidate for a home with other furry family members.
Ideal Home
Copper has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and is crate trained. While he has settled nicely into home life, he has very little experience walking on a leash. Because of this, he will need a home with a secure physical fenced yard where he can safely enjoy the outdoors while he continues building confidence. He is not a good candidate for an invisible fence or tether. This active little guy enjoys staying busy and likes having opportunities to explore, play, and interact with his family. True to his nature, Copper will bark when he gets excited or when he feels it's his duty to alert you of potential threats, so he may not be the best fit for apartment or shared-wall living. Copper is particularly fond of women and tends to bond with them quickly. He can be a bit cautious around men when first meeting them, but with patience, consistency, and a few tasty treats, he warms up and learns to trust. Because of his sensitive side and occasional alert barking, he would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who can respect his boundaries and help him continue building confidence.
Ongoing Health
Copper is current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies vaccinations. He has been dewormed, tested negative for heartworm, and is receiving heartworm and flea prevention. He is microchipped and scheduled for neutering at our partner veterinary office, which is included in the adoption fee.
Training & Support
Copper is house-trained and crate-trained. He has very little experience walking on a leash and will need continued work to build confidence. He can be cautious around new men and may bark when excited or alerting. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement will help him continue to build trust and confidence.
