Meet Decatur — The Quiet Gentleman Decatur is a calm, observant, 10-year-old gentleman who came to us after being surrendered for "aggression." We've found him to be anything but! He's been decompressing wonderfully, showing no reaction to other dogs entering his space, indicating he prefers a peaceful environment. He still has a little spark, enjoying a game of fetch (though he's not big on returning the ball!), but mostly he sleeps, enjoys the sun, and desires a quiet place to exist. He is quiet, doesn't bark, and has no accidents in his crate. He may graze on his food. Decatur is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.

Ideal Home

Decatur needs a home that understands the importance of a proper 2-week decompression period, with no immediate dog introductions and no forcing relationships. He will thrive with a neutral, respectful dog companion that minds its own business, much like "Twig energy." He is best suited for someone who values peace over chaos, understands older dogs, respects decompression, and is okay with a low-maintenance, quiet companion.

Ongoing Health

Decatur is currently being treated for a mild case of kennel cough with antibiotics. He also requires daily eye drops to prevent dryness, a common need for senior dogs.

Training & Support

Decatur is already doing well with crate training and has no accidents. He may graze on his food. The most important support he needs is patience and understanding during his decompression period.

Decatur is currently in a temporary foster home in the Phoenix area. Out-of-state adopters must arrange and pay for transport, as our funds are prioritized for dogs in critical medical need.
