Aero is a stunning 2-year-old, 45 lb Heeler mix with a bright mind, playful spirit, and a heart that's learning how to feel safe and loved. This handsome boy was rescued just in time from a Houston shelter after landing on the euthanasia list simply because he was too scared to walk on a leash. Thanks to a dedicated foster family, Aero got his second chance and he's been making the most of it ever since. Like many Heelers, Aero is smart, active, and thrives when he has structure and routine. He has come a long way and now walks well on a leash, rides great in the car, and would make an amazing adventure buddy. Whether it's a walk, a road trip, or just hanging out in the yard, Aero is happy to be part of the action or to entertain himself with toys and solo play. He does have strong herding instincts and heeler nips from time to time, and for that reason, we think a family with older kids would be best. He has been fostered in a home with a 9-year-old, whom he quickly became besties with. He does great with the other dog in his foster home and would love a friendly furry sibling or at least opportunities to socialize with other dogs. He is not a fan of cats. One of Aero's most endearing quirks? He absolutely loves music. His foster brother starts playing guitar, and he'll sit quietly and listen like your biggest fan. Music even helps calm him, making it a sweet way to connect with him.
Ideal Home
A patient but confident owner who can provide clear guidance and consistency. A family with older children due to his herding instincts. He would do well with a friendly furry sibling or opportunities to socialize with other dogs, but is not a fan of cats.
Ongoing Health
Aero has completed heartworm treatment.
Training & Support
Aero still needs some continued training and reassurance, but he's eager to learn and bond with his person. Like most rescue dogs that have had to fend for themselves on the streets, he will protect his food from other dogs. He is fed separately in his kennel just to make sure there are no scuffles in his foster home. Aero isn't a big fan of the kennel, but given that he's not destructive, he doesn't really need it. Even though he may sneak off and hide a shoe or two if given the chance, it's just part of his playful personality! Breed experience or knowledge is required.
