About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male, hound/retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. He's a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle and is happiest when he's with his people. Comet was rescued from the streets and found himself at the county shelter before coming to his foster home. He has a fairly high, but not obnoxious, energy level and loves to run zoomies! He shows a balanced playstyle and has not displayed any food or resource aggression.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home where he has a canine sibling to snuggle and play with. He has been around indoor cats and children and does well with them. However, we recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues, as he has a bit of a herding instinct.

Ongoing Health

Comet is generally healthy.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps in his kennel at night without whining and does not pull on the leash. He hasn't had any accidents in the house and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Comet doesn't appear to have separation anxiety, but he is crated when unsupervised as he enjoys tasting things. While he has made great strides, Comet can be a bit wary of men. However, he adores his current foster dad, so with patience and consistency, he will warm up to new men in his life.
