Hola! My name is JENNY, and I'm a sweet, easy-going gal looking for a relaxing place to call home. I'm a 2-year-old, 24 lb female Jack Russell Terrier / Chihuahua mix (best guess!). My life hasn't been easy; I was found tied to a post in Mexico City with my nine puppies. Thankfully, kind rescuers found us and brought us to safety. I was underweight then, as I had been feeding my pups without eating myself, and it's thought I was a young pup myself at the time. Since being rescued, life has been on the up and up! My pups have found wonderful homes, and now it's my turn to find my furever family. I'm a bit shy and curious at first, but once I get to know you, I'm affectionate in a gentle and polite way. If you're looking for a low-energy companion to cozy up with, I think I could be your perfect match!
Ideal Home
I would thrive in a less-active family or with someone looking for a quiet, gentle best friend. I can be a little timid, so a home with young, loud children would likely not be ideal for me. Calm, older children would be best. I can be a bit wary of new dogs at first and may get a little defensive, so I'm looking for an adopter who is willing to work with me on my comfortability around other dogs, and hiring a dog trainer to help set me up to succeed may be required. I'm unsure how I'll react around small animals, so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviors should they arise.
Ongoing Health
I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying. While I was malnourished at the time of my rescue, I am now a healthy, happy girl! Please note that it is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after adoption, and these costs are the responsibility of the adopter.
Training & Support
My leash skills are a work in progress. I get a little distracted on busy roads and am better in calm environments. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners, and a well-fitted harness and dedicated leash training will help. I am also a work in progress with housetraining; frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn. We highly encourage adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.
