Gilbert, a charming and resilient dog, is looking for his forever home! Gilbert, who has affectionately been called Gilbert Gumdrops and Mr. Gilbert, is a champion at tug-of-war, a master of keep-away, and an elite couch cuddler. He was found under a parked car in the Arts District, cold and in rough shape with a broken hip. Thankfully, he received the necessary surgeries and has made a full recovery. Now, Gilbert is thriving, enjoying neighborhood walks, romping in the yard, visiting the park, and blossoming into a tenacious, curious, smart, and deeply loving dog. He is also a positive influence on his foster dog sister, making her more confident on walks. Gilbert is respectful of his cat foster siblings, though he doesn't always succeed. He is fond of most people, does well with young children, and is a bright and eager learner, enjoying daily obedience practice and responding well to his name. His breed mix is a mystery, with guesses ranging from Xoloitzcuintli to Terrier, Poodle, or Whippet, but he's truly one of a kind. If you're seeking a playful, affectionate, and resilient dog with a huge heart and an even bigger personality, Gilbert might be the perfect companion for you.
