About Nona

Nona is a 1-year-old, 50 lb, spayed female Staffie mix who is currently in Texas but can transport out of state once matched with an approved adopter. She’s in her older puppy era, with a playful spark and growing confidence. Nona is built like a tank with a short, sturdy frame and a front-heavy build. She's fast and loves to zoom around the backyard, and she still greets her foster mom with an enthusiastic flying leap. Nona is sweet, playful, and loves to be near her people. When excited, her whole body wiggles, and her tail wags a mile a minute. She loves meeting new friends and has been practicing socializing in various settings. She recently met a small child and did wonderfully. Nona has a lovable stubborn streak and enjoys nibbling chins, sharing her toys, and figuring things out. She’s highly motivated by toys and treats, making training fun. She has mastered "sit" and is working on her leash manners. She enjoys walks of up to 2-3 miles and is happy to join her foster family on adventures. While she may not love the car ride to get to an adventure, she's delightful once she arrives. Nona is fully crate-trained, especially overnight, and settles in beautifully. She's also doing great with potty training and just needs a family to reinforce her routine. She's a bit of a shy watchdog and will sound the alarm if she hears or sees something unfamiliar. One of Nona's most irresistible features is her adorable underbite, which makes her goofy expressions even cuter. She is dog-friendly and gets along great with her foster siblings and uncle. She'd do best with a canine companion who is respectful of personal space and happy to share the spotlight. Nona hasn't been around cats or kids in a home setting, but based on her personality, we think she'd do well in a calm home with respectful, well-mannered children who understand how to interact with an older puppy. She'd thrive with a confident canine friend but would also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only. Nona is expected to fill out into a sturdy, medium-to-large-sized dog.
