Topper

Meet Topper! This dapper gentleman came to us after a good-hearted citizen found him wandering. Unfortunately, his microchip didn't lead us to an owner, and we suspect he may have been dumped. For about a week, Topper was understandably shut down, trying to figure out why he was here. Then, he decided it was time to look forward and find a new family!

Topper weighs about 74 lbs and is estimated to be around 5 years old. His breed mix is a delightful mystery, but his DNA has revealed a fascinating blend of German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, Border Collie, and Golden Retriever, among other breeds! He enjoys a game of fetch and will happily drop the ball for you. Topper passed his kid testing with flying colors and even enjoyed navigating an obstacle course. He's also a tolerant soul when it comes to bath time. A volunteer recently took him to the beach, reporting that "even though it was hot out and he was a big old black dog he would love to go and put his toes in the sand, so that is exactly what we did. He walks nicely, he really didn’t react to much of anything. What a good old guy, he reminds me so much of my Beauceron mix. But his tail looks like an Irish wolfhound. He would be a fun one to find out just what he’s made of.”
