Scout

Scout is an adult male dog, a terrier mix with a red/chestnut/orange coat. He is neutered and vaccinated.

Scout used to be the dog people crossed the street to avoid. Out on his own, he did what he had to do to get by. He stood tall, acted tough, and protected himself the only way he knew how. To the world, he looked intimidating, but the truth was much softer. Scout wasn't mean. He was uncertain, trying to stay safe in a world that hadn't always been kind to him. Underneath that tough exterior was a dog who simply never had a place to belong. Since coming into the shelter, Scout has started to show who he really is. The brave front is slowly melting away, revealing a shy, gentle soul who is learning to trust again. Every day, he takes small, meaningful steps, leaning into kind hands, accepting affection, and discovering that he doesn't have to be on guard anymore. Scout is still finding his confidence, but his heart is wide open and ready.
