Chido

Charming Chido is a truly special boy who has come a long way from his tough beginnings on the streets of Houston. Despite his past, he continues to have a wonderful faith in people and other animals, showing an incredible gentle nature, especially with his love for cats! He makes friends easily with both humans and other pets.

Chido enjoys short walks, playing with his toys, and napping – he’s a champion sleeper! He is gentle with children and cats, and generally good with most dogs. He can be a bit dog selective, but as long as other dogs aren't being overly dominant or boisterous, he usually gets along just fine.

This sweet boy can be a bit frightened by loud noises like thunder, lightning, and fireworks. He will need some reassurance and comfort during these times, but he calms down quickly when he knows you're there for him.

Ideal Home

Chido would thrive in a patient household with someone who works from home or is retired, as he suffers from separation anxiety and would love a relaxed companion to hang out with. He is an indoor companion and not an outside dog, deserving of all the love and comfort inside.

Ongoing Health

Chido is heartworm positive and is currently on a slow-kill medication (Heartguard), which is an affordable monthly pill. He should be tested annually to monitor his heartworm status. He also experiences occasional hip arthritis, which makes it a bit difficult for him to get around initially. This has only happened twice since he's been in foster care and typically resolves with a gentle hip massage and rest. X-rays show inflammation but no broken bones. Aside from these manageable conditions, Chido is a healthy and loving companion.

Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained.
